Please note that the Scottish Government implemented a new NHS dental framework which will mean that courses of treatment started on of after November 2023 will have new charges, and also implement new rules about what can and cannot be provided under the NHS. These charges were further increased on 1st December 2024.
Fee exemptions for NHS treatment will still apply - ie all young people under 26, all pregnant women and those with children under 1 year receive free NHS treatment. Those in receipt of certain means tested benefits may also be exempt.
Where a patient pays for their treatment we will still provide a written treatment plan detailing the proposed treatment and the costs involved. Fees for NHS dentistry are set centrally by the Scottish Government.
X-rays: from £5.84 each
Simple Scale and Polish: from £16.64
Silver filling: from £13.48
Root canal treatment: from £100.64 per tooth
Please also note that the new framework also introduces new charges for items that may not have been charged for under the old scheme.
e.g.
Denture repair: £53.92 per denture (upper OR lower)
Emergency treratment: from £16.64

At Riverbank Dental we offer NHS dental treatment to all our patients.
Some patients will qualify for free NHS treatment, others will be required to make a payment determined by NHS rules and set by the Scottish government. If you are required to pay for your treatment we will give you a printed treatment plan with an estimated total cost, and we will always try to let you know if your treatment plan changes. We ask that all patients pay for any treatment carried out at each visit.
NHS payment exemptions can be found on the Scottish Government webiste: click here
We ask that if you are exempt from NHS treatment charges that you bring evidence of your exemption with you when you visit.
